Welcome to Central Wisconsin
Living and Working in Central Wisconsin
Culture
One of the best ways to experience the local culture is at the 400 Block, a lively outdoor square in the middle of downtown Wausau that puts on a number of concerts, markets and festivals each year. The nearby Grand Theatre also hosts more than 300 musical and artistic performances annually, for those looking for a night of class and culture-rich entertainment.
Families
Getting outside is one of the area’s most popular pastimes, and a big part of the reason families enjoy living here. The rural charm, access to great schools and countless amenities and attractions round out the laid-back lifestyle of Central Wisconsin.
Activities
With the 1,528-acre Rib Mountain State Park nearby, you’ll never be at a loss for something to do. The park is also home to Granite Peak, a popular ski hill, and not too far away is one of the longest “rail trails” in Wisconsin, as well as the state’s longest tubing hill at Sylvan Hill Park. If you’re looking for something a little less thrill-seeking, there are a number of great craft breweries, shopping hotspots and more.
Attractions
Although outdoor attractions abound, don’t miss the indoor appeal of places like the Woodson Art Museum that hosts the internationally-recognized “Birds in Art” exhibition every year. The Center for the Visual Arts is another great spot to catch a free exhibit, while the architecture of the Andrew Warren Historic District never disappoints.
